Spencer Gray became a broker in 2013, and currently works out of the John L. Scott Lake Tapps office. Before real estate, Spencer worked in a variety of settings in the healthcare industry – including health care administration, owning a nursing staffing agency and working as a firefighter EMT.
Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs with a do-it-yourself mentality, it was natural for Spencer to become a broker. Over the years, he watched family members invest in real estate, help build homes, additions and complete full remodels. He’s owned investment property since graduating college and loves the challenges and rewards that real estate has to offer.
Spencer often works with clients in Puyallup, Tacoma, Bonney Lake and Sumner. Due to his 13 years of service as an EMT and five years as a firefighter, a number of his clients work in public service as firefighters, police, nurses, doctors, military service members and more. Additionally, he works with investors who invest in real estate to diversify their portfolio. His clients appreciate that Spencer is accessible and responsive to their needs. Spencer is experienced in developing a dynamic, creative and well-organized marketing strategy that uses professionally-produced marketing and sales materials that clearly accentuate each property’s unique features. His favorite marketing tool is the Matterport 3D Virtual Tour Camera. He purchased this camera to offer sellers an advantage, as the technology gives buyers a “walk through” of the home from their smartphones, tablets and computers. Professional photography is also a key part of his strategy, as photos are the most important first impression when buyers are browsing listings. Typically, Spencer will list a home on a Friday morning so buyers can add the home to their list of homes to visit over the weekend. Then, he’ll host an open house kick-off to generate the most activity right out of the gate, and increase the likelihood of multiple offers over the seller’s asking price!
Spencer was drawn to John L. Scott due to the company’s local roots and community-based philosophy. He loves helping people achieve their dreams and secure their financial future through homeownership. In his five years in real estate, he appreciates the valuable friendships he’s formed with clients. He participates in the John L. Scott Foundation and previously volunteered with the Special Olympics medical team for 20 years when he had his EMT and medical certifications.
A lifelong Washington resident, Spencer calls downtown Puyallup home with his wife Elle. He enjoys spending time outdoors, cooking and sailing. Additionally, he is interested in antiques, motorcycles and vintage cars and trucks.

The city of Puyallup sits in a valley just southeast of Tacoma near the foothills of Mount Rainier and the Cascades. Our verdant soil is known nationwide due to the beautiful Daffodils that grow here. Those flowers are distributed throughout the west and are celebrated each spring during the Daffodil Festival. Named for the Puyallup native american tribes who first settled here, Puyallup is also the name of the river that flows through town and has its origins in a glacier on nearby Mount Rainier. The river provides fishing opportunities and other waterfront activities. And the local fish hatchery is a favorite spot for school trips and family outings.
